I have spent the better part of my life trying to find shoes that will fit my wide width feet.  As a child, I was dragged from shoe store to shoe store in search of something, ANYTHING, that would fit my non-conformist feet.  And I hated it.  I hated going shoe shopping because of the inevitable disappointment of finding a shoe that I liked, and then having to face reality when I tried it on.  It tainted my entire shoe shopping life.

The older I grew, the more expensive and difficult it became.  My shoes always cost more than my peers and I could never really own more than one or two pairs because nothing ever fit.  They were not always attractive and caused me a significant amount of anxiety.  I unwittingly became a “shoe person” because I was, precisely, unable to be one.  I dreamt of dainty sandals and smart-looking pumps.   I dreamt of sexy heels and funky flats.  I dreamt of fashionable shoe stores where I was not the only person under 50.  I dreamt of rows upon rows of shoes that I could easily slip my feet into.

And then I moved to New York, to the Upper West Side. Within my first year of living here, Infinity Shoes opened on 92^nd and Broadway.  I hadn’t heard of it before and in my never-ending quest to bring harmony to my tortured podiatric soul, I went in.  I was immediately taken by the colors and styles which, I must have been deceiving myself, seemed as if they might just might fit my feet.  I dared to try on a pair.  I fell in love.

While I did not purchase my first pair of Miz Mooz that day, although I do regret it because they were a beautiful pair of intricately wrought red flats, I have purchased at least three pairs since.  They are tried and true friends which finally allow me to stand tall, stand comfortably, and stand stylishly.  Whenever I wear them, I inevitably receive compliments about their shape and flair.  A brown patent leather pair of peep-toe heels has garnered compliments from women who can’t believe that their feet be too slim for my shoes.  They wear thin black pointy-toed glamour and are envious of me.  Another pair, black pumps with a low yet high heel and a button on the side, I have been told, have the perfect rounded toe.  And the button detail is adorable.

I feel confident, I feel sexy, and I don’t feel like my feet are being scrunched.  I am in no discomfort and I look phenomenal.  I am the shoe envy of all wide-width women.  My feet thank you, Miz Mooz, from the bottom of my soul.
